Meet the Team

Dan Stegbauer
Executive Director

Dan is no stranger to the Covenant Living way of life. He grew up in the Evangelical Covenant Church, attending Sunday school and summer Bible camps. He also attended North Park University in Chicago, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in finance as well as an MBA. Dan’s career started in the financial services industry, but quickly changed to a healthcare focus. He spent several years in hospital administration before being called to Covenant Living.

Dan joined Covenant living in March of 2015 where he accepted a dual role as Assisted Living Director and Associate Executive Director at Covenant Living of the Great Lakes in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During this time, he also became a Licensed Healthcare Administrator. In late 2016, he relocated to Covenant Living at the Holmstad, in Batavia, Illinois, to be the Associate Executive Director. In 2019, Dan was called to be the Executive Director at Covenant Living of Cromwell.

Additionally, Dan has family at two other Covenant Living communities, which has only elevated his desire to advocate for seniors to live their best lives, regardless of their needs.

Maria Christoforo
Associate Executive Director

Maria was called to a service for senior living by design. Growing up in close relationship with her grandparents, she learned the true meaning of growing old with grace. As her late grandfather Max always said, “if you’re lucky, you’ll be old someday.” A perspective from a WWII survivor riddled with crippling arthritis. Maria learned the importance of advocating for seniors and the importance of celebrating the journey of their lives. What a privilege to watch this journey so closely on a personal side, and to now have the opportunity to share and witness that journey with others.

Maria began her career in senior living working in a sales and marketing role for an assisted living community focused on memory care. Maria came to Covenant Living of Cromwell in 2015 as the Healthcare Administrator in Pilgrim Manor skilled nursing. In 2019, Maria transitioned to the role of Associate Executive Director for the Crowell campus. She spent the previous 8 years working for a local for-profit skilled nursing corporation as the Director of Admissions, Skilled Nursing Administrator and Regional Administrator. Maria was called to the mission of Covenant Living as a faith-based non-profit committed to creating Joy and Peace of Mind.  Maria graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. She obtained her Nursing Home Administrator License in 2012. She feels truly blessed to be part of the mission of Covenant Living.

Barry O’Doherty

She has spent the last several years working in Healthcare, in service to older adults. She is a graduate of Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota with a degree in Human Resources Management. Gwen and her family love living in New England, enjoying its history, architecture and winters milder than those in Minnesota!

Kim’s early career in social services and counseling solidified her passion for helping others while paving the way for success in her role as our Sales Director. She takes pride in the work that she does to advise and support individuals through their retirement planning to help them reach their goals. Seeing how happy the residents are once they become residents of our Covenant Living community affirms her greater purpose to make a difference in the lives of those that we serve.
