Resident Ann Grasso plays an important role in the Cromwell Creative District, a non-profit organization working to engage the community through cultural and artistic activities. For their latest project, the Cromwell Creative District has commissioned artist David Taylor to paint a mural promoting the initiative on the Pierson Coal Building. Future projects include interactive art exhibitions, other town murals, a craft fair, and the first-ever Cromwell Film Festival. Here's a close look at the Homemade Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting, made in the Pilgrim Manor Baking Club! Baking Club at our skilled nursing facility consists of a demonstration by Life Enrichment Coordinator Katie Mongillo. Each resident has a copy of the recipe in front of them and the group walks through the recipe together. Katie asks or residents tell her what goes in next, what the measurement is of each ingredient and so on. If part of the recipe has no raw ingredients and doesn’t need to be baked, like the frosting on this cake, Katie gives all the residents a sample taste - how sweet is that?!
